Marin Teknikk to design large Offshore vessel

Kleven Verft has entered into an (MOU) agreement with Debmarine Namibia about building a new MT6027 Offshore vessel of Marin Teknikk design. The vessel will follow the MT6022 SS Nujoma delivered in 2016 to Debmarine Namibia.

The new Offshore vessel will be the largest ship ever designed by Marin Teknikk. With a lenght of 177m and a breadth of 27m, it will be a massive vessel with an extensive package of equipment on board.

The equipment to be installed is developed by De Beers during a long period of time, specialized for finding diamonds laying in a 4-5 meters’ thick sediment layer. The sediments are left on the seabed by the river Oranje during a period of ~3 million years.

The vessel will accommodate 109 people and are designed according to the class notation ECO (Clean Design). High focus is given to low fuel consumption, which reduces emission to the environment.

The vessel is equipped with diesel electric frequency controlled propulsion, highly efficient azimuth thrusters, 4P mooring system and dynamic positioning system.

– We are very pleased to announce this agreement, states CEO Svein-Rune Gjerde, an agreement that will secure a lot of work for our employees, both in Norway and Poland the coming months.
